No More Bad News - Just Peace of Mind
Pam Plummer used to dread phone calls from her employees at Curves® of the Ojai Valley. Quite often, it would be bad news: another computer breakdown that required her immediate attention.
“I was being bothered by computer problems almost weekly,” she recalls. “Sometimes, the problem would take me four hours or more to sort out, and half my day was shot. There were times I had to drag my husband out of work to drive 45 minutes to fix the computer. Even when I was on vacation, I’d have to spend hours on the phone.”
Not any more. Ms. Plummer heard Dave Lawrence of Smart Technology Enablers speak at an Ojai Valley Chamber of Commerce function about his company’s First Class Support service designed especially for small businesses. The service sounded like a perfect fit — and a much-needed rescue — for her business. She was right.
Enablers Fix It, Clean It, Watch It
Enablers began by installing an updated hard drive, which has more storage space. They cleaned up the system, getting rid of non-essential programs and data so the computers, which run Curves’ specialized iGoFigure CRM (Customer Relationship Management) program, operate faster and more efficiently. They updated Curves’ security system. Enablers then added their ongoing First Class Support service. This provides constant, remote monitoring of clients’ computer systems.
“If an issue arises, Enablers can remote into any system and investigate the problem quickly for fast resolution — often before staff at the Curves facility notices there is anything wrong,” explains Lawrence. “Every system is backed up every night. So if a disk fails, or data corruption occurs, recovery is just minutes away.” The service also provides software updates, virus scans and security.
All this has been a game-changer for Curves, says Ms. Plummer, because a smooth-running, dependable computer system is essential to the operation. The system keeps track of member profiles, members’ attendance, the progress they are making toward their goals of losing pounds and inches, billing, retail sales, employees’ hours and commissions and payroll. The system generates a report on all these data at the end of each month.
‘A Huge Relief for Me’
Ms. Plummer says she’s thrilled that Enablers can resolve most problems from their remote site — and that they also respond promptly to her locations if necessary.
“All this is a huge relief for me,” says Ms. Plummer. “It’s one less thing I have to worry about. My staff also shares that same peace of mind. Now they don’t have to endure computer glitches that disrupted their ability to provide member service.
“My business relationship with the Enablers is built on friendship. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have reliable, honest, dependable friends who provide quality service for my business. They seem to care about it as much as I do.”
