Help of Ojai, the Ojai Valley’s respected nonprofit social services agency, needed help itself. The organization had just added the new 40 acre West Campus facility, several miles from its downtown headquarters. Computers at the two sites were not networked, so staff productivity was hindered. Many of the computers were antiquated. Computer files were not getting backed up properly and there was no virus protection. Existing software programs were not standardized or interfaced.

“We’ve found that we’ve had to become much more technologically advanced to handle the growing complexities of our production,” says Jeff Haydon, Ojai Music Festival Executive Director.

The renowned canine heroes trained to find people buried alive in the wreckage of national disasters and terrorist attacks need a smooth-running human backup to do their lifesaving work.
That’s the challenge of the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, which produces the most highly-trained canine disaster teams in the nation. The mission of the nonprofit NDSDF is to recruit rescued dogs, get them professionally trained and then give them to fire departments and other emergency response agencies at no cost. Not surprisingly, this complex operation requires a computer network that simultaneously meets varied needs and challenges.
