1384066_chocolate_1Writing is hard for a lot of people. There are very few gifted writers in the world, and the vast majority of them aren’t trained well enough to handle the kind of writing it takes to manage a blog or two for more than a few months. That means the writing is up to you, but how do you get yourself writing when it looks boring and, to be quite frank, bland? Never fear - where there is a will there is a way, and here are two ways you might become a more prolific writer.

Relax

You don’t have to write in a business suit. The vast majority of the time you don’t have to be writing in anything at all, actually. John Cheever won the Pulitzer Prize and worked almost exclusively in his underpants. Some of us like to write while swaying in a hammock or hanging out by a pool. Whatever helps you relax, take advantage of it when you’re trying to write. Bringing good ideas to the front of your mind when you’re tired or trying to force them unnaturally will only lead to poor writing or no writing at all.

Write Standing

People like Ernest Hemingway are famous for writing while walking and standing. He swore that it relieved all the pain he experienced while he was sitting down, and whenever he could, he was standing. Just standing often makes people more excited and exhilarated, especially if they’re standing somewhere they want to stand, like in a park or in the backyard they just remodeled. Since the invention of tablets, you can even write on a computer while you pace around your porch.
